Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes breed in standing water, where the adults lay their eggs and the larvae hatch & develop. Because mosquitoes must have water to complete their life cycle, treating sources of water is important to prevent the larvae from becoming breeding, biting, and potentially disease-carrying adults. Problem areas can include bird baths, potted plants, low-lying areas, toys or playground equipment, or other sites that can collect water.

While it is impossible for treatments to totally eliminate mosquitoes around your home, they can greatly reduce the number and provide significant protection. Atkins has a variety
of solutions to offer, including monthly barrier sprays, and mosquito reduction products. Because it is very difficult to control mobile populations of adult mosquitoes, it is best to use a combination of tactics.

The Mosquito ‘Cognito is a compact, battery-operated dispenser that emits an inhibitor to block the insect’s ability to smell people and animals. One cartridge lasts thirty days, and it goes anywhere—deck, porch, patio, boat, poolside, camping, etc. Works better than DEET or citronella.

We also offer an easy-to-use shaker bottle of Pre-Strike larvacide that inhibits mosquitoes from emerging from the larval stage. Provides up to 21 days of larval reduction in standing water, such as in flowerpots, birdbaths, and gutters.

Our monthly barrier treatment is sprayed in potential resting areas, such as under decks and porches, in the eaves of your home, in bushes and shrubs, and other areas specific to your property. All of our products are safe for use around your family and pets, as well as wildlife and fish in ponds or streams.

DID YOU KNOW….
That it’s the female mosquito that does the biting? They have to have the protein from a blood meal to produce fertile eggs.
